This groundbreaking glasshouse was designed by Heatherwick Studio and constructed for the National Trust at Woolbeding Gardens, forming the centrepiece of the new Silk Route garden. It features 10 ‘sepals’ of glass and steel, each weighing 8.5 tonnes, that open simultaneously using hydraulics, requiring the most precise construction and structural engineering. The Glasshouse won a Sussex Heritage Trust 'Landscape & Gardens' award in 2024.
